Attendance Area Demographic Information
For St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church

Summary:
In preparing a demographic report for St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, the Committee assumed that the primary area of interest for gathering demographic information was for those ZIP codes closest to where the church is located. For this reason, the area chosen was defined as St. Joseph’s postal code and the five contiguous postal areas. Another reason for including these six areas in the demographic study is that there is no other Episcopal Church within their boundaries. In addition, the bulk of St. Joseph’s parishioners live within the boundaries of these six ZIP codes. The six areas assumed to be the attendance area for St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church include:

  • 90620—Buena Park (the ZIP code in which the church is located)
  • 90621—Buena Park
  • 90623—La Palma
  • 90630—Cypress
  • 92683—Westminster
  • 92804—west Anaheim

Additional ZIP codes for which some demographic information was obtained include the following ZIP codes. At least one member of St. Joseph’s resides, or resided, in each of these ZIP codes.

  • 90602—Whittier
  • 90603—Whittier
  • 90604—Whittier
  • 90631—La Habra/La Habra Heights
  • 90713—Lakewood
  • 90802—Long Beach
  • 91745—Hacienda Heights
  • 92801—Brea
  • 92833—Fullerton
  • 92835—Fullerton
  • 92845—Garden Grove
  • 92867—Orange
  • 92870—Anaheim

The demographic information for this report was obtained from MissionInsite, a database resource provided by the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, and data based on the 2010 U.S. Census updated by the U.S. Post Office.

The population of the six ZIP code areas is 330,000. The individual population varies from 15,600 for La Palma to 91,700 for Westminster. The defined area contains a large enough population to be of primary interest.

The number of housing units in the primary area totals 100,800. The total area average number of people per unit is 3.3. By postal area the average varies from 3.0 in Cypress and La Palma to 3.5 in west Anaheim. There are a very small number of housing units available for sale or rent (less than 1,000) in each of these ZIP code areas.

The average median home value for the total area is $468,700. The median home value varies from $394,000 for the two areas of Buena Park to $572,000 in La Palma. Median household income for the region is $68,000 and varies from $58,089 in Westminster to $90,052 in La Palma.

The average median age is 37 years with ages in the postal zones varying from 34 years in west Anaheim, and one area of Buena Park, to 41 years in La Palma.

Additional information about the areas is provided in the charts below.
