In each upcoming issue of The Shavings this year, we will bring you up to date on where we are in the transition process. As a reminder, Rev. Mary’s last Sunday with us will be December 30, 2018, which thus sets into motion a series of steps for our deliberation and decision.
Story Day, June 3
On Sunday, June 3, a number of us participated in our Story Day, which is part of the process in compiling our Parish Profile. Story Day followed a service of Holy Eucharist in the Parish Hall, with Rev. Mary presiding. Then, the Rev. Tom Quijada-Discavage, from the Diocesan Office of Formation and Transitions, facilitated the Story Day program. We had very productive and lively discussions as we explored our past and looked toward our future. Jennifer Turner took copious notes to remind us of what we discussed during this time. The Transition Committee will review these notes and compose a summary.
The next step on our journey is the Parish Survey. The Survey Committee will review the Survey template supplied by the Diocese and tailor it to our needs. We then will set a date for the parish to take the survey. Pat Jebens, Janeane Dimpel and Dianne McCarley have agreed to serve on a Survey Committee. We are continuing to work toward completing the Parish Profile and will keep you informed as we complete the necessary tasks.
A reminder: Based on the recommendation from the Compensation Committee, on April 17 the Vestry authorized funding for a half-time priest.
Yours in Christ,
Transition Senior Warden
